Greta Arrested For Palestine

Greta Thunberg was arrested this week for protesting Genocide in Palestine, outside of Swedish Parliament.

Greta commented on the scene, "This struggle has only just begun. The climate justice movement has been doing these things for decades and we have been only met with def ears. We feel like we have no other choice but to sit here, and disrupt the system, in order to get our voice heard."

Although she was arrested Monday, she returned Tuesday, to continue the campaign.

In the past year, Greta has made civil disobedience to the point of arrest a bigger part of her activism, on several occasions.

At the Daily Rebellion and XR Pathways, we've made clear what side we stand on with our press release. However, there are many more still standing on the sidelines. Although many acts of civil disobedience have taken place, especially here in the US, the vast majority are not yet called to action.
Jews who feel disenfranchised by the policies of Genocide, Arabs who identify with the victims of the modern genocide in Gaza and the West Bank can usually be found at protests. The climate community could step up quite a bit more to bolster the numbers.

It's important as climate activists that we can show up for these struggles that align with our beliefs, that policies of genocide are an extinction in themselves, of our morals, and even of our future survivability. As Code Pink says, "War is Not Green."
