Greta Thunberg throws spotlight back on climate asshe’s arrested during the fifth day of protests by a climate activist group in Sweden.

Greta Thunberg stuns critics and fans alike again. The environmental campaigner expressed what could only be construed as a kind of joy as she was carried away by police together with other climate activists from the organisation Ta Tillbaka Framtiden (Take Back the Future), who blocked the entrance to Oljehamnen neighborhood in Malmo, Sweden, for the fifth day in a row.

Several other climate activists from Take Back the Future were arrested this afternoon while they mount peaceful protest.

The group has been blocking oil tankers in the Malmo harbour, with tactics including sitting on the road so the vehicles cannot drive out of the area.

Two hours ago the Take Back the Future's official account tweeted: "One person has climbed onto a tanker and 3 tankers in total blocked. The police are on the scene."

On Saturday Ms Thunberg tweeted about what was happening. She said: "Today, for the third= day in a row, @TTFramtiden blocked oil tankers in the Malmö oil harbour.

"The climate crisis is a matter of life and death for countless people. We choose to physically stop fossil fuel infrastructure. We are reclaiming the future. #TaTillbakaFramtiden."

The protests at the harbour are taking place at the same time as campaigners have been making their voices heard outside the Swedish government's climate meeting.

In a statement issued on the first day of the protests, Ms Thunberg said: "The climate crisis has long been a reality for countless people all over the world."

SMALL NUMBERS, BIG IMPACT

hosted by XR NYC

September 28th, 6:30-7:30, EST

Four civil disobedience activists (including one rebel) blocked the road to the Burning Man festival. It generated hundreds of media stories.

Another rebel glued his feet to the floor of Arthur Ashe stadium and stopped a US Open semi-final game for 49 minutes. It generated thousands of media hits worldwide, inserted the topic of climate emergency where it is least seen - the sports pages.

Would you like to be a part of this new wave of climate actions, where a small number of brave people can make a big impact?

Come learn from these two rebels. It's not hard. It just needs a bit of pluck, a bit of creativity, and a straightforward message.

“What are our responsibilities at this time? Because of the fossil fuel industry, we are facing horrors of a magnitude never before experienced in our existence. Our government continues to lead us to the edge of no return. We must stand up and defend ourselves. No one else is going to do it. It must be us, if we want to live.
Our methods must be disruptive, and they must be nonviolent. Our actions are evidence-based, credible, and we have a plan. The only thing missing at this point in time is YOU!”
