On November 20th, a group of over 70 activists with Last Generation Austria swarmed onto the A2 motorway into Vienna, poured non-toxic orange paint on the asphalt and glued their hands to the ground, demanding that the Austrian government take immediate action on the climate crisis.
This afternoon, members of Letzte Generation Austria rushed the ski slope at the World Cup of skiing in Austria. This was to be their second disruption of the event, their first being on Oct 29th. Five supporters were successful in disrupting the competition, unfurling banners and spreading eco-friendly paint across the snow.
The Last Generation - Austria, spilled orange warning paint on the stairs of the University of Vienna at the Schottentor. Press spokeswoman Marina Hagen-Canaval says, “Cogito ergo protest – the scientific consensus must lead to action, now, before it is too late.”
Austria, October 29, 2023, Letzte Generation Austria supporters shut down the main access to the slopes in a peaceful protest, on the second day of the Ski World Cup. They are outraged that their government are still ignoring the recommendations from the Citizens' Climate Council.
In another student action, which amounts over 20 in the last two weeks, students in Austria at the University of Graz spilled paint on the front steps.
October 16th, 2023, In Graz, Austria, students attached a 70ft hand-painted banner, with the inscription, “We are all the last generation before the tipping points” from the University of Graz Roof.
September 4th, 2023, Last Generation Austria established blockades in 5 cities. Letzte Generation Austria set up roadblocks in Graz, Innsbruck, Klagenfurt, Wels, Vienna, all with a clear message - The Austrian government must fulfill its duty to the Environmental Protection Act, which it has neglected for 950 straight days.
