Sunday September, 3rd, Two Supporters of the Civil Resistance group, Renovate Switzerland, taped their hands to the 18th hole of the Crans-Montana golf course, stopping two of the European Masters Tournament leaders from attempting that hole for a brief period - and capturing the eyes of spectators.

Their message is that the golf courses are “Islands of illusion” which distracts from the atrocities being wrought by climate change. RS: “The reality beyond the greens is the intensification and accumulation of natural disasters such as droughts, wildfires, floods and landslides, particularly in the Alps.”
Karuna Babajee, 20, Renovate Switzerland Supporter, said "Today I dressed smartly to come to the European Masters Golf in Crans-Montana. Will that be enough to avert the climate crisis?” The Social Anthropology and Biology Student, continued, “Maybe if we act together. That's why I chose civil resistance: to speak to everyone about the climate emergency."

Eric Ducrey, 47, Renovate Switzerland Supporter: “When I was young, I used to caddy on this green. It saddens me to think that the people who put so much energy into keeping this place alive might resent me for interrupting the European Masters. But the climate crisis will also destroy golf courses and I can think of no better way to address this fact to you.”
Renovate Switzerland’s demands include renovating a million Swiss homes to lower their carbon footprint by making them energy efficient in the face of cold and heat variability. They are part of the ten groups in the global #A22Network of civil resistance to save the planet.

SMALL NUMBERS, BIG IMPACT

hosted by XR NYC

September 28th, 6:30-7:30, EST

Four civil disobedience activists (including one rebel) blocked the road to the Burning Man festival. It generated hundreds of media stories.

Another rebel glued his feet to the floor of Arthur Ashe stadium and stopped a US Open semi-final game for 49 minutes. It generated thousands of media hits worldwide, inserted the topic of climate emergency where it is least seen - the sports pages.

Would you like to be a part of this new wave of climate actions, where a small number of brave people can make a big impact?

Come learn from these two rebels. It's not hard. It just needs a bit of pluck, a bit of creativity, and a straightforward message.

“What are our responsibilities at this time? Because of the fossil fuel industry, we are facing horrors of a magnitude never before experienced in our existence. Our government continues to lead us to the edge of no return. We must stand up and defend ourselves. No one else is going to do it. It must be us, if we want to live.
Our methods must be disruptive, and they must be nonviolent. Our actions are evidence-based, credible, and we have a plan. The only thing missing at this point in time is YOU!”
