The past few days have been a whirlwind of action against the Mountain Valley Pipeline in West Virginia.

First, we saw two climate protectors lock on Tuesday morning. They were joined by none other than Peter Kalmus of NASA, who was not locking on, but did rally his 300,000 online followers to join.
It was not long before another wave lockdowns occurred, this time 4 Grandmas in rocking chairs, and Peter’s contemporary, Rose Abramoff, of Science Rebellion and one other, making six.
Peter said, “We're on a path to lose everything, and it's because these ignorant people in power want every last bit of profit even as the living Earth burns and dies around us.”
Rose locked on, and remained for several hours before she was finally extracted and jailed. She was bailed out soon after.
Rose had this to say, “I’m an Earth scientist. I study how climate change and human land use affects ecosystems like the one that the Mountain Valley Pipeline is ripping its way through. We are desperate, we are out of time, so we are rising up."

Given what’s transpired this week, with RICO charges against Stop Cop City autonomous forest defenders, and these actions carry that much more weight. It says that folks in XR and Third Act, and other groups around the country, will not stand by and watch as young kids risk everything to save forests while a fascist state cracks down on them as if they were terrorists.
Defending land from destruction is not a terrorist act. It is an act of love, and protection, for all things.

SMALL NUMBERS, BIG IMPACT

hosted by XR NYC

September 28th, 6:30-7:30, EST

Four civil disobedience activists (including one rebel) blocked the road to the Burning Man festival. It generated hundreds of media stories.

Another rebel glued his feet to the floor of Arthur Ashe stadium and stopped a US Open semi-final game for 49 minutes. It generated thousands of media hits worldwide, inserted the topic of climate emergency where it is least seen - the sports pages.

Would you like to be a part of this new wave of climate actions, where a small number of brave people can make a big impact?

Come learn from these two rebels. It's not hard. It just needs a bit of pluck, a bit of creativity, and a straightforward message.

Join up with Declare Emergency and make Headlines in DC

Join DE This Sunday for a talk about how you can join this exciting group - and start making headlines of your own! Or at least help others do the same.
“What are our responsibilities at this time? Because of the fossil fuel industry, we are facing horrors of a magnitude never before experienced in our existence. Our government continues to lead us to the edge of no return. We must stand up and defend ourselves. No one else is going to do it. It must be us, if we want to live.
Our methods must be disruptive, and they must be nonviolent. Our actions are evidence-based, credible, and we have a plan. The only thing missing at this point in time is YOU!”
