Over 20 Boston Rebels Arrested during Slow March

Alex Chambers, spokesperson for XR Boston said, “When you find yourself stuck in a hole the first step is to stop digging." The eight time arrestee continued, "I don't understand why the Governor and her Climate Chief are not taking the first step to dealing with the climate emergency. As a young person, my entire future is riding on our government taking action this decade, and not waiting until 2050. Do the right thing. Introduce a ban on new fossil fuel infrastructure.”

Jana Pickard-Richardson, another XR Boston activist, added "I’m risking arrest today out of love and rage. Love for the millions upon millions who stand to lose their homes, and even their lives in this worsening climate crisis. And rage at the politicians who have wasted decades with incremental actions and business as usual. And now as the signs of the crisis unfold around us, our government still is not acting with the urgency the situation demands.”

Extinction Rebellion Boston demands that the Healey administration ban New Fossil Fuel Infrastructure. This includes fossil fuel power plants, residential and commercial gas connections, expanded pipelines, no LNG facilities or terminals, no more gas stations and no new airports or airport expansions. They also name 8 projects currently under development that they want canceled. For more information, see their press release at xrboston.org/news

Join up with Declare Emergency and make Headlines in DC

Join DE This Sunday for a talk about how you can join this exciting group - and start making headlines of your own! Or at least help others do the same.
“What are our responsibilities at this time? Because of the fossil fuel industry, we are facing horrors of a magnitude never before experienced in our existence. Our government continues to lead us to the edge of no return. We must stand up and defend ourselves. No one else is going to do it. It must be us, if we want to live.
Our methods must be disruptive, and they must be nonviolent. Our actions are evidence-based, credible, and we have a plan. The only thing missing at this point in time is YOU!”
