Letzte Generation Drape Victory Column

The banner announces the planned mass occupation of the Street of "June 17th" this Saturday, Oct 28th at 12 p.m.
Letzte Generation Spokesperson, Rolf Meyer, explains, “The necessary turn 'away from fossil fuels towards fairness' is being prevented by fossil subsidies in the interests of a few large corporations. It is high time that we as a society stand up for our interests, for our survival. That’s why we’re going to take to the Street of June 17th in Berlin on October 28th, 2023 at 12 p.m. with many protesters and will occupy it.”

XR Netherlands to support

As might be expected from past alliances, XR Netherlands has announced its plan in a press release to join with Letzte Generation in their planned occupation protest. XR Netherlands recently redefined this type of protest when they held a planned occupation in the Hague for 27 days, amounting in 9000 arrests, and getting their demand passed a motion in the House. This demand was the very same demand, to end fossil fuel subsidies. Germany subsidizes fossil fuels with 65 billion a year. Netherlands subsidizes with 42-46 billion per year.

“What are our responsibilities at this time? Because of the fossil fuel industry, we are facing horrors of a magnitude never before experienced in our existence. Our government continues to lead us to the edge of no return. We must stand up and defend ourselves. No one else is going to do it. It must be us, if we want to live.
Our methods must be disruptive, and they must be nonviolent. Our actions are evidence-based, credible, and we have a plan. The only thing missing at this point in time is YOU!”
