Oracle Issue #117 - Marcus and Morgan, Roger Hallam, Leon Simons

Marcus and Morgan spend 1 year in jail - so far

It has now been one year since the duo, Morgan Trowland, 40, and Marcus Decker, 34, have been sentenced to prison. Trowland is serving 3 years, and Decker is serving 2 years, 7 months.

They were arrested last October and held until trial, where they’ve been serving since.

A video released by Extinction Rebellion UK documents the incredible activists’ work before being jailed. It’s an incredible tragedy that the state is cracking down on peaceful, non-violent protesters. Their offense was sitting on top of a bridge for 40 hours, shutting down traffic.

Scientists Join Letzte Generation

Scientist Rebellion joined Letzte Generation at the roadblocks today to say, “The Science is Clear.”
The scientists stand with Letzte Generation in demanding a livable future, a citizens assembly on climate and a limit of 62mph speed limit on cars.
SR, “We have to move away from fossil fuels and towards fairness!”
Letzte Generation has achieved a 90% name recognition in Germany and is part of the A22 Network of civil resistance.

The Paint Remains

The Brandenburg Gate was painted orange on Sunday, September 17th, with orange warning paint. Today, October 20th, they released this statement (translated and shortened for content)
We can clear up the numerous speculations about when the Brandenburg Gate will be free of the orange warning color again: The Brandenburg Gate will remain orange . The life-threatening failure of our government cannot simply be brushed aside.
The Brandenburg Gate is Berlin's most famous landmark and, like no other monument in Germany, stands for great, hopeful turning points in history. It reminds us powerfully that change is possible.
Regardless of whether we use fire extinguishers, paint buckets or brushes – we will continue to paint the Brandenburg Gate orange until the socially just transition away from the use of oil, gas and coal is initiated.

113 Day Record

I'm getting so desperate for some positive climate news, that the ending of this 113 day record Northern Hemisphere temperature streak would qualify. This little jump at the end upsets me more than it should..

You could be next

Two days ago the police pushed their way into my flat injuring my house mate at 6am. They arrested me for "conspiracy to cause a public nuisance" for doing a talk at a festival 3 mths ago. They took my laptop, phone.
Am fine. The question is when is this going to happen to you?
