Joanna Smith to Serve Two Months

Joanna Smith, one of the Degas Two, pled guilty yesterday in a DC Court. During the drama filled hearing, both sides made arguments regarding the level of destruction caused at the museum. Ultimately, the judge decided on 34 levels of severity due to the value of the property. Ironically, the judge did not seem to take into account the value of planet Earth, which encompasses the Little Dancer and anyone who might be able to enjoy her.

Ultimately, using a scale, the judge decided on two months, but not before entering into a self indulgent tirade which seemed would better befit Fox News than a court of Justice. The transcript is sure to be released at some point, but there is no way to describe the venom she felt towards climate activists. The reverence she gave to the museum head curator, who ironically wore a real flower neckless, was also a pungent display of favoritism towards the elite, an antiquated value system which has led us down this dark path.
Although the two activists, the judge, and curators all displayed a deep reverence for this piece of “heritage.” - the Little Dancer Aged 14, it seemed a bit misplaced to this writer. It is a French statue, created in France. Any damage that has occurred to it is most likely due to being traipsed around the world, not a protest the took place at the pedestal of this million dollar wax model. However, as it was presented in court, the conservators identified zero damage to the wax figure.

Joanna will serve her two months after she turns herself in beginning at her home state, New York City, at a time yet to be determined.
