Using stencils and orange paint, the protesters sprayed the demand “Away from fossil fuels – towards fairness” onto the road. Orange handprints have been spray-painted around the sit-in.
Discontent that the stakes had been raised sufficiently, two activists also glued themselves to the road.
Lea-Maria Rhein , spokesperson for the Last Generation explains, “Subsidies are a steering instrument and Olaf Scholz is steering us further and further into climate catastrophe with his fossil subsidies! That is why we are calling for a mass occupation of the Street of June 17th and the Great Star on November 25th, 2023 at 12 p.m."
Their last mass gathering brought a multitude of groups, including Extinction Rebellion Netherlands. That protest lasted through the night and had 1400 people gathered on the street of June 17th, many locked down.
