Veronika Short, 22, asks, “But what are we celebrating? Are we celebrating that there has been no climate protection law for over 1000 days, that we continue to subsidize major greenhouse gas emitters such as air traffic and are thus further destroying the future of our children, who should have a nice day on the bouncy castle and with show flights today?”

Moritz Holzinger, 24, says, “One kilometer by plane on a domestic flight is 31 times more harmful to the climate than one kilometer by train. But this is not about individual responsibility, but about the political framework. Kerosene is not taxed and flights are still subsidized. How are people supposed to switch to the train when a ticket for the same route costs 30 times as much as a comparable plane ticket?”
