A Cello Resistance
For the past six weeks, a vibrant resistance has railed against the Citibank’s death machine.
A campaign called, “Summer of Heat on Wall Street” has amounted 450 arrests, in a non-violent civil disobedience campaign at the Citibank headquarters, in NYC.
Recently, Alec Connon, executive director of the Stop Money Pipeline, and John Mark Rozendaal, core XR NYC organizer, were hit with false allegations. They were served with restraining orders barring them from returning to the protest site.
Returning to this site could have them face seven years in prison.
In an act of moral resistance, John Mark, who is a former music teacher, renown musician, and lifelong pacifist, (announced on twitter) he will bring his cello, and perform a live act of civil disobedience at the site of the protest, Citibank Headquarters.
Young people don't get deluded that world leaders are going to save you. You need to engage in mass civil resistance and take what is yours. It's the only way at this point. And in April this year ... “It is simply mind-boggling,” said Prof Michael Meredith, science leader at the British Antarctic Survey. “In sub-zero temperatures such a massive leap is tolerable but if we had a 40C rise in the UK now that would take temperatures for a spring day to over 50C – and that would be deadly for the population.” A 40C jump above average temperatures has not happened. But it's still very unlikely to happen to us, right? Except it only has to happen once to kill everyone in the UK - 50C plus is death in 6 hours (wet bulb effect). It's true - maybe some people would survive - until it happens again.

Due to anomalous conditions ongoing in the Arctic and Antarctic, the total extent of sea ice globally is a record low for the date and nearly *4 million square kilometers* below the 1981-2010 average... More sea ice graphics at ZackLabe.com
