Three members of Climate Defiance were arrested Tuesday, July 25th, when they demonstrated during Gina Raimondo's speech in the Reagon Building of the Wilson Center.

Gina left the stage and the auditorium was subsequently emptied.

Gina Raimondo had has just approved a $100 million dollar fossil fuel project in Indonesia and the Biden Administration has approved a multitude of fossil fuel projects, including the Willow Project which is oil drilling in the arctic wildlife refuge and an even bigger LNG project. They are also approving new oil and gas leases in the Gulf of Mexico.

Three are announced to be in custody, to be held overnight, including Michael Greenberg, founding member of Climate Defiance.

New York, NY - On Saturday, July 22nd, Extinction Rebellion and Rise & Resist NYC staged a symbolic nonviolent action at Madame Tussauds waxwork model of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, demanding the government declare a climate emergency.

We’ve all seen the recent skyrocketing temperatures in the North Atlantic, but much worse doom portends. The hot topic of the tipping points right now point to the #AMOC. The AMOC, Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation, threatens to devastate ecosystems and upend all known patterns of heat transference - rendering a death blow to a planet already deep in an ecological crisis, if it completely shuts down due to tipping points. The timeline for this occurrence is being moved from end of the century, to mere decades, or years, with recent data coming in.

Eighteen climate activists assembled at the museum’s Oval Office exhibition and raised their voices in unison, performing the rousing chorus of “It’s The End Of the World As We Know It” by R.E.M. Additionally, the activists wrapped black-colored streamers around the waxworks, representing how the government, which is entrusted to work in the best interest of citizens, is captured by the fossil fuel industry.
The protest took place on Climate Emergency Day, during which the Climate Clock in Union Square counted down from six years to five.
This marks the third protest in New York in a span of three weeks, provoked by the extremely excessive charges pressed against Joanna Smith and Tim Martin (referred to as “The Degas Two”).

SMALL NUMBERS, BIG IMPACT

hosted by XR NYC

September 28th, 6:30-7:30, EST

Four civil disobedience activists (including one rebel) blocked the road to the Burning Man festival. It generated hundreds of media stories.

Another rebel glued his feet to the floor of Arthur Ashe stadium and stopped a US Open semi-final game for 49 minutes. It generated thousands of media hits worldwide, inserted the topic of climate emergency where it is least seen - the sports pages.

Would you like to be a part of this new wave of climate actions, where a small number of brave people can make a big impact?

Come learn from these two rebels. It's not hard. It just needs a bit of pluck, a bit of creativity, and a straightforward message.

“What are our responsibilities at this time? Because of the fossil fuel industry, we are facing horrors of a magnitude never before experienced in our existence. Our government continues to lead us to the edge of no return. We must stand up and defend ourselves. No one else is going to do it. It must be us, if we want to live.
Our methods must be disruptive, and they must be nonviolent. Our actions are evidence-based, credible, and we have a plan. The only thing missing at this point in time is YOU!”
