Climate Protectors lock to equipment on a Mountain Valley Pipeline worksite in Roanoke County, VA on stolen Yesan land

Climate Protectors locked down and shut down work at the site tree clearing on Poor Mountain for over seven hours at press time.

Appalachians Against Pipelines and their allies have been disrupting and halting MVP construction on and around Poor Mountain for weeks, both at the top where Friday’s lockdowns are taking place, and at its base at Cove Hollow Rd where the pipeline is slated to cross Hwy 460 and then the Roanoke River. Water protectors have stopped construction every day since they resumed work at this particular site. The mounting pressure has resulted in four work stoppages in four days!

One supporter of this morning's action said, "Any reputable scientist could tell you that this pipeline is inconsistent with a future where humans continue to live. It's that simple. The MVP is a doomsday device. It is only being built so the rich can get richer. Our 'leaders' have clearly taken a side, so it's up to us to stop this thing."
